Amos' Completely Mandatory (IAN!) Post

Hey, whoever chances on this.

In Tent City.  Children running to the feedings.
Amos scraping the wall and
getting it ready for painting
I have no idea whether this is directly sent to my parents, or whether its public. So, I probably won't say much personal. I saw some pretty butterflies a while ago. Butterflies are pretty. I also had eggs everyday for breakfast. Eggs are yummy. The food is nice, but I'm really tired. So basically, a regular school day minus the school, but wouldn't that be like a vacation but not? I came to serve, not to take pictures of everything that moves. I came to bond with people, not to interview them.

EJ's Post

Prayer walk through the neighborhood.
I just woke up. Man, am I tired. I feel really tired both emotionally and physically. As we are approaching the end of this trip, I feel it will be hard to let go of the experiences and the relationships during this trip. I am happy, a changed person, I begin to see in myself and hope that I can become a better person as I go back to Singapore and take all the emotions and lessons I have to learn to touch other peoples as well. - EJ-

Ian's Post

Hello dearest parents of mine,

I am doing well. Yah, that's pretty much it.

Love your favorite son,

David's Post

Hi there Mom and Dad,

I don't think you will ever read this because you guys are having too much fun in Hawaii without me. But, just in case you do, I am having a great time in Manila, playing with kids, eating good food, and doing construction. I guess I will see you tomorrow! - David S.

At the feeding this morning.
 March 19th:
Today I went on a feeding.  I met this little girl, I thought she had the most beautiful eyes.  We gave her some peanut MM's.  After the feeding Marcus, Cheska, Mrs. Goetz and I went to the people's homes and asked them if we could pray for them.  No one said "No".
The poverty was really extreme but there is so much of it here in Manila that you see it everywhere you go.  It was hard at first but now I'm getting use to it.
This afternoon I played with the children in the nursery.  Nursery is not just babies, it also has toddlers.  One of the babies, Marcus or Mikey, I felt a special bond with him.  I held him in my arms for quite a long time.  Most of the babies and toddlers made me smile.  -LiXuan-

Smiling kids at every corner!
Today morning we were separated into groups like painting, construction and nursery. We finished the painting today. And this afternoon we are going to paint a mural altogether.

Packing away the food supplies for the feeding ministry

Today as I shoveled and mixed concrete for construction I was channeling my mother.  Jane Ellis is the strongest willed, hardest working female I've ever known, and I'm happy that from a young age she and my father have emphasized how important work (and more specifically physical labor) is. All this to say, Happy Birthday Mom!  Thank you for making it possible for me to have this experience, and for preparing me in every aspect of my life so I can get the most out of it.
Can't wait to talk to you in a few days! Miss you very much.  Happy Birthday!
~Catherine

Beginning construction on the playground that is sponsored by our 3rd graders
A good time of painting and visiting is at hand. Lots of smiles in the Philippines! ICS people are being stretched! Hugs and kisses to Mrs. Moore and Joy! Happy 1 1/2 year birthday Joy! Congrats to my brother in law and sister in law on the arrival of my new niece! See you all soon! - Mr. Moore

Today some of the students went to the children's home to hold babies and play with the toddlers, another group finished putting the finishing touches on the murals at the school, a third group started digging the holes for the playground equipment (which was delivered yesterday and bought by the 3rd grade class at ICS), and a final group worked on the second story construction at the children's home.  This was only the beginning of our day.

Unloading a container truck for supplies for the ministry
After lunch we moved 150 boxes from the front of the building, down the stairs and stacked them up in the back.  The men (not boys anymore) helped unpack the container the day before.  We then worked on painting the wall behind the basketball hoop at the school and preparing it for the mural. Lastly some of the students went to help with the feedings, and after dinner a group of students went to the children's home to do the nightly devotion.

Before
So here I am at 7:29pm.  I have one more min. before I'm late.  We will move into group sharing, worship through music, testimonies, debrief of the day, devotions and finally small group time.
At the end of the day we will fall into our beds at 10:30 and sleep like a rock knowing that today was a day that we served with all our hearts and got to be a part of what God is doing here in Manila.  -Tammy Goetz-

Sunday 16 March 2014

Just a few minutes to blog before we start our day.  Just wanted to let you know what I've been seeing.
Drew - holding babies in the nursery
Ian, Austin, David - being human jungle gyms in one of the neighborhoods
Yong Kwon & Daniel - teaching advanced swim classes
Amos - making the children laugh
Yeji, Josh & Khloe -praying for people in the local neighborhood
Mr. Whittaker - picking up trash outside the ministry.

 Day 4
Today we walked through the village and got the chance to talk to people around this community. We heard many individual stories, especially from mothers who asked to be prayed for their families. We had great interaction time and we've never felt so connected to the people. -Ye ji-

Day 3:
This morning our group split up and did different jobs, some of us went to the children's home, The Jazz home, some construction, and taught kids to swim. HI MOMMIE HI DADDY RACHEL'S ALL RIGHT NUNNY SAYS HI. BYE WE MISS UUUUUUUUU AND WE LOVE UUUUUUUUUU <3
- Rachel Lee

We finished painting some murals today at the JAZ home.  JAZ home is where the teens girls are being helped that have been abandoned or abused.  The scenery was nice and the air was cool.  The murals are now pretty because we finished them. Hii mama bear and papa bearrrrr <3 i miss you so much and i love you <333333 be safe and God bless :* CHEERIOS -Cheska-

EAT WELL. PRAY CONSISTENTLY. TAKE CARE. ALL THE LOVE. - YE JI

Today some girls from the team and I went to paint a mural at the JAZ home. We planned on starting our own mural, but instead we ended up finishing a previous mural that another team had started. It was fun and ended up turning out really nice. In the afternoon I swam with the Angles and then played at the children's home. I miss my family. xx -Drew.

My day started off with applying rash cream on my big rashes, one on each leg. The whole team had breakfast, then my group and I got to take a group of kids swimming in the pool. After two hours of awesomeness, my rash came back. We then switched groups and helped mix cement at the Children's home. Then we had lunch. After lunch we didn't really know what we were doing, so we waited until we were told what was going on. I ended up spending the afternoon painting murals. Josh, David and I created an awesome mural for the Children in the school. Lastly I got to chill with all my friends at dinner. Life=complete. -Daniel

-->To the beautiful Mrs & Little Miss Moore - MUAH!

Day 2
Today:
Chapel.
Art Project. Swimming Lessons. Sports.
There are so many cute children here; one reminded me of my little brother.
Their faces and personalities are so endearing.
I am watching as peers adjust and enjoy each other and the new environment that still very few of us understand.
Thank God for the support of such wonderful teachers, leaders and friends.
To condense what we've done so far in words has proven to hard a task for me, as this cryptic entry evidences.
And I know we have seen VERY little of all there is to experience here.
-Catherine
I love you, dad, mom.

- Minji
MOMMY, DADDY!!!! I MISS YOU!!! WE TAUGHT SWIMMING!!!!
-LEE JAEMIN
-So far, I am having fun at Manila!! Can't wait to spend more time in Manila with these cool people, like Khloe
-Manami
Working with the kids and meeting new people has been so much fun. They are so happy and their joy flows into your happiness
-khloe

Mr. Moore says HI to Mrs. Moore and Joy! :O)

The students led the chapel today and had a good time praying for the students.  God is at work here in Manila.  We went to a feeding center this afternoon.  So heartbreaking to see such poverty.  A little girl led Amos and I to a family whose 14 yr old boy has polio.  K.I.M. ministries were able to take care of him and get him the medical care that he so desperately needs.  I thank the Lord that he led us to him.  So proud of these students and how they are pouring their hearts out on the filipino people.
-Mrs. Goetz-

Day One:
We arrived here around dinner time, drove through the city of Manila and finally arrived at K.I.M. Ministries.  This is my first time to Manila and to K.I. M. Ministries.  There is great need here in the Philippines, but we serve a big God who is able to do more than we could ever dream or imagine.  Our prayer is that we would be God's hands, feet, mouths, voices, arms, and servants to these people during this time when we have the privilege to be touched by their lives.    Mrs. Goetz
